Then said the LORD to me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go away.
And the LORD rejected all the people of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of plunderers, until he had cast them out of his sight.
Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.
Therefore do not pray for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me concerning their trouble.
When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and a food offering, I will not accept them: but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.
Therefore thus says the LORD, If you return, then will I bring you back, and you shall stand before me: and if you take away the precious from the vile, you shall be as my mouth: let them return to you; but do not return to them.
Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that you know not, neither you nor your fathers; and there shall you serve other gods day and night; where I will not show you favor.
For thus says the LORD, Do not enter into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor bemoan them: for I have taken away my peace from this people, says the LORD, even loving kindness and mercies.
Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before you to speak good for them, and to turn away your anger from them.
Is this man Coniah a despised broken idol? is he a vessel in which is no pleasure? why are they cast out, he and his children, and are cast into a land which they do not know?
Therefore, behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you, and I will forsake you, and the city that I gave you and your fathers, and cast you out of my presence:
For through the anger of the LORD it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, till he had cast them out from his presence, that Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How we are laid waste! we are greatly astonished, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out.
And I sought for a man among them that would build up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of my house, I will love them no more: all their princes are rebels.
I prayed therefore to the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, do not destroy your people and your inheritance, which you have redeemed through your greatness, which you have brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
For Christ has not entered into the sanctuary made with hands, which is a representation of the true one; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
And all the people said to Samuel, Pray for your servants unto the LORD your God, that we die not: for we have added to all our sins this evil, to ask for a king.
And Samuel took a sucking lamb, and offered it whole for a burnt offering to the LORD: and Samuel cried out unto the Lord for Israel; and the LORD heard him.
