I have seen your adulteries, and your neighings, the lewdness of your whoredom, and your abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe to you, O Jerusalem! will you not be made clean? when shall it finally be?

How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?

Understand, you stupid among the people: and you fools, when will you be wise?

How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

Upon a lofty and high mountain have you placed your bed: even there you went up to offer sacrifice.

Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, says the LORD, which have burned incense upon the mountains, and blasphemed me upon the hills: therefore will I measure their former work into their bosom.

What has my beloved to do in my house, seeing she has committed lewdness with many, and the holy flesh has passed from you? when you do evil, then you rejoice.

The LORD said also to me in the days of Josiah the king, Have you seen that which backsliding Israel has done? she has gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there has played the harlot.

And it came to pass after all your wickedness, (woe, woe to you! says the Lord GOD;)

And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.

For when I had brought them into the land, for which I lifted up my hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savor, and poured out there their drink offerings.

She has wearied herself with lies, and her great scum did not go forth out of her: her scum shall be in the fire.

In your filthiness is lewdness: because I have cleansed you, and you were not cleansed, you shall not be cleansed from your filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon you.

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is in it, and whose scum has not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot be cast concerning it.

Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

Thus says the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock.

Then shall you know that I am the LORD, when their slain men shall be among their idols round about their altars, upon every high hill, in all the tops of the mountains, and under every green tree, and under every thick oak, the place where they offered sweet savor to all their idols.

The beginning of the word of the LORD by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take to yourself a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land has committed great whoredom, departing from the LORD.

By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they burst out, and bloodshed follows bloodshed.

Your calf, O Samaria, has cast you off; my anger is kindled against them: how long will it be before they attain to innocence?

Woe to her who is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city!

Woe to you, Chorazin! woe to you, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall mourn many who have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed.

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

You adulterers and adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore chooses to be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabitants of the earth because of the other notes of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!
