This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be like this waistband, which is good for nothing.

And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that did not direct their heart rightly, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God.

Rejoice, O young man, in your youth; and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes: but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.

And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a sash a tear; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a girdle a covering of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.

They have turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.

And the LORD has given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then you showed me their deeds.

Then I went to the Euphrates, and dug, and took the waistband from the place where I had hid it: and, behold, the waistband was spoiled, it was good for nothing.

And you have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, you walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not listen to me:

They shall die terrible deaths; they shall not be lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcasses shall be food for the birds of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.

For thus says the LORD, Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself, and to all your friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take them captive into Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword.

I spoke to you in your prosperity; but you said, I will not hear. This has been your manner from your youth, that you did not obey my voice.

They still say to those who despise me, The LORD has said, You shall have peace; and they say to every one who walks according to the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.

At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.

I have sent also to you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return now every man from his evil way, and correct your doings, and do not go after other gods to serve them, and you shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but you have not turned your ear, nor listened to me.

As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of the LORD, we will not listen to you.

But they did not listen nor incline their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.

But this people have a revolting and a rebellious heart; they have rebelled and gone.

And now, because you have done all these works, says the LORD, and I spoke to you, rising up early and speaking, but you did not hear; and I called you, but you did not answer;

If you oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt:

Why then has this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold firmly to deceit, they refuse to return.

And the LORD says, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein;

But have walked according to the imagination of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them:

Your habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, says the LORD.

And the LORD said to Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be before they believe me, for all the signs which I have shown among them?

You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you do always resist the Holy Spirit: as your fathers did, so do you.

See that you do not refuse him that speaks. For if they did not escape who refused him that spoke on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaks from heaven:
