What has my beloved to do in my house, seeing she has committed lewdness with many, and the holy flesh has passed from you? when you do evil, then you rejoice.
Thus says the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother’s divorce, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have you sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.
I have seen your adulteries, and your neighings, the lewdness of your whoredom, and your abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe to you, O Jerusalem! will you not be made clean? when shall it finally be?
Then said the LORD to me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go away.
Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus says the LORD; I remember you, the kindness of your youth, your bridal love, when you went after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.
Turn, O backsliding children, says the LORD; for I am married to you: and I will take you, one from a city, and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion:
And I saw, when for all the causes by which backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.
Then said the LORD to me, Keep on going, love a woman beloved by her friend, though an adulteress, according to the love of the LORD toward the children of Israel, who look to other gods, and love flagons of wine.
When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with you, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I plead with you, do not torment me.
