He who tills his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he who follows vain persons lacks understanding.

Thus says the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they have gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and have become vain?

Because, when they knew God, they did not glorify him as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.

No, but O man, who are you that replies against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why have you made me thus?

For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision profits anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which works by love.

For if a person thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

Beware so that no one will spoil you through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

From which some having swerved have turned aside to vain disputing;

For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision:

If anyone among you seems to be religious, and does not control his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is without benefit.

Even so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone.

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
