And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening food offering, and the king’s burnt sacrifice, and his food offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their food offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brass altar shall be for me to inquire by.

And in the time of his distress he trespassed yet more against the LORD: this is that king Ahaz.

Ask a sign of the LORD your God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.

And he said, Hear now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary my God also?

And they come to you as the people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear your words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their covetousness.

And now we call the proud happy; yea, those who work wickedness are established; yea, those who tempt God are even delivered.

Then Peter said to her, How is it that you have agreed together to put the Spirit of the Lord to the test? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and shall carry you out.

Neither should we provoke Christ, as some of them also provoked, and were destroyed by serpents.

You shall not tempt the LORD your God, as you tempted him in Massah.
