We all roar like bears, and mourn bitterly like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.

They draw near that follow after mischief: they are far from your law.

Salvation is far from the wicked: for they do not seek your statutes.

I am feeble and greatly broken: I have groaned because of the agitation of my heart.

Attend to me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;

Surely his salvation is near those who fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.

Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I mourned like a dove: my eyes fail with looking upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; come and help me.

Your sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, like a wild bull in a net: they are full of the fury of the LORD, the rebuke of your God.

And justice is turned away backward, and righteousness stands afar off: for truth has fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.

The way of peace they know not; and there is no justice in their goings: they have made for themselves crooked paths: whoever goes in them shall not know peace.

Therefore is judgment far from us, neither does justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.

We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold, trouble!

Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

And you have removed my soul far off from peace: I forgot prosperity.

But those who escape of them shall escape, and shall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them mourning, every one for his iniquity.

And they have not cried to me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for grain and wine, and they rebel against me.

And Huzzab shall be led away captive, she shall be taken away, and her maids shall lead her as with the voice of doves, beating upon their breasts.

But Nineveh is from of old like a pool of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand, shall they cry; but none shall look back.
