Why do you spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which does not satisfy? listen diligently to me, and eat that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.

Come, you children, listen to me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of your house; and you shall make them drink of the river of your pleasures.

My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise you with joyful lips:

And said, If you will diligently listen to the voice of the LORD your God, and will do that which is right in his sight, and will give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that heals you.

But he who obeys my voice shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Till a dart strikes through his liver; as a bird hurries to the snare, and does not know that it is for his life.

Now therefore listen to me, O you children: for blessed are those who keep my ways.

Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mixed.

A man to whom God has given riches, wealth, and honor, so that he lacks nothing for his soul of all that he desires, yet God does not give him power to eat thereof, but a stranger eats it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease.

If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land:

And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away off from your shoulder, and his yoke off from your neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make for all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

He feeds on ashes: a deceived heart has turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, and hire a goldsmith; and he makes it a god: they fall down, yea, they worship.

Listen to me, you who follow after righteousness, you who seek the LORD: look to the rock from which you are hewn, and to the hole of the pit from which you are dug.

Listen to me, my people; and give ear to me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will establish my judgment as a light to the people.

Listen to me, you that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; do not fear the reproach of men, neither be afraid of their reviling.

The LORD has sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give your grain to be food for your enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink your wine, for which you have labored:

But those who have gathered it shall eat it, and praise the LORD; and those who have brought it together shall drink it in the courts of my holiness.

They shall not labor in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the children of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.

They have sown wheat, but shall reap thorns: they have put themselves to pain, but shall not profit: and they shall be ashamed of your revenues because of the fierce anger of the LORD.

And it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey my words, says the LORD, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but hallow the sabbath day, to do no work on it;

For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and dug out for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

And I will satisfy the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, says the LORD.

Ephraim feeds on wind, and follows after the east wind: he daily increases lies and desolation; and they make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.

For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it has no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if perhaps it yields, the strangers shall swallow it up.

Behold, is it not from the LORD of hosts that the people shall labor in the consuming fire, and the people shall weary themselves for utter vanity?

But in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Again, he sent out other servants, saying, Tell those who are invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come to the marriage.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness: for they shall be filled.

And when he had called all the people to him, he said to them, Listen to me every one of you, and understand:

And bring here the fattened calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for that food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give to you: for him has God the Father sealed.

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

But Israel, who followed after the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness.

And it shall come to pass, if you shall listen diligently to my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,

Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing for the heart to be established with grace, not with foods, which have not benefited those who have been occupied with them.
