You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly predictors, stand up, and save you from these things that shall come upon you.
Thus shall they be to you with whom you have labored, even your merchants, from your youth: they shall wander every one to his own district; none shall save you.
But these two things shall come to you in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon you in their perfection for the multitude of your sorceries, and for the great abundance of your enchantments.
And when they shall say to you, Seek after those who have familiar spirits, and wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek after their God? for the living should they go to the dead?
Thus says the LORD of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be completely broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labor in vain, and the community in the fire, and they shall be weary.
And you shall say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her: and they shall be weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.
