Woe to him that strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashions it, What are you making? or your work, He has no hands?

Remember, I plead with you, that you have made me as the clay; and will you bring me into dust again?

Why do you strive against him? for he does not give account of any of his purposes.

Shall he that contends with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproves God, let him answer it.

Behold, he takes away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What are you doing?

He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who has hardened himself against him, and has prospered?

There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

That which has been has been named already, and it is known that it is man: neither may he contend with him that is mightier than he.

Shall the axe boast itself against him that cuts with it? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that moves it? as if the rod should shake itself against those who lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood.

Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter’s clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

Woe to him that says to his father, What do you beget? or to the woman, What have you brought forth?

And there is none that calls upon your name, that stirs himself up to take hold of you: for you have hid your face from us, and have consumed us, because of our iniquities.

But now, O LORD, you are our father; we are the clay, and you our potter; and we all are the work of your hand.

O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter does? says the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.

And you shall say to Jehoiakim king of Judah, Thus says the LORD; You have burned this scroll, saying, Why have you written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from there man and beast?

I have laid a snare for you, and you are also taken, O Babylon, and you were not aware of it: you are found, and also caught, because you have striven against the LORD.

And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he does according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can hold back his hand, or say to him, What are you doing?

Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?
