O you descendents of Abraham his servant, you children of Jacob his chosen.

Even a heritage to Israel his servant: for his mercy endures for ever.

But now thus says the LORD who created you, O Jacob, and he who formed you, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are mine.

Thus says the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought low all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.

Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:

Who says of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, You shall be built; and to the temple, Your foundation shall be laid.

And unless those days should be shortened, there would no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

And unless the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved: but for the elect’s sake, whom he has chosen, he has shortened the days.

For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore you ignorantly worship, him I declare to you.

What then? Israel has not obtained that which he seeks; but the chosen have obtained it, and the rest were blinded

But it is not as though the word of God has had no effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

That at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

Not in the lust of evil desire, even as the Gentiles who do not know God:
