It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke of it shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.

And the strong shall be as flax, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them.

It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch his tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.

Behold, the LORD makes the earth empty, and makes it waste, and turns it upside down, and scatters abroad the inhabitants thereof.

And he has cast the lot for them, and his hand has divided it to them by line: they shall possess it for ever, from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.

And they shall go out, and look upon the carcasses of the men who have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring to all flesh.

As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighbor cities, says the LORD, no man shall remain there, neither shall a son of man dwell in it.

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, my anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.

No foot of man shall pass through it, nor foot of beast shall pass through it, neither shall it be inhabited forty years.

She is empty, and vacant, and ruined: and the heart melts, and the knees strike together, and much pain is in all loins, and the faces of them all gather blackness.

And cried out when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like this great city!

And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.
