Now, behold, you trust in the staff of this bruised reed, even in Egypt, on which if a man leans, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.

Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.

Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.

And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.

And the inhabitant of this coastland shall say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation, to which we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape?

Why do you gad about so much to change your way? you also shall be ashamed of Egypt, as you were ashamed of Assyria.

For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As my anger and my fury has been poured out upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem; so shall my fury be poured out upon you, when you shall enter into Egypt: and you shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and you shall see this place no more.

Now therefore know certainly that you shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, in the place to which you desire to go and to sojourn.

The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, says; Behold, I will punish the multitude of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with their gods, and their kings; even Pharaoh, and all those who trust in him:

When they took hold of you by your hand, you broke, and tore all their shoulder: and when they leaned upon you, you broke, and made all their loins to be at a standstill.

It shall be also carried to Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.

For the scripture says, Whoever believes in him shall not be ashamed.

And hope does not make us ashamed; because the love of God is poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given to us.
