Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
And it shall come to pass in that day, says the LORD, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.
And if the prophet be deceived when he has spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.
Therefore there shall be night for you, so that you shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark for you, so that you shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them.
(According as it is written, God has given them the spirit of slumber, eyes so that they would not see, and ears so that they would not hear;) until this day.
In whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of those who do not believe, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
So David took the spear and the jar of water from Saul’s pillow; and they got out of there, and no man saw it, nor knew it, neither awakened: for they were all asleep; because a deep sleep from the LORD was fallen upon them.
