Therefore hear the word of the LORD, you scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.

How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.

Surely he scorns the scorners: but he gives grace to the lowly.

Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom; give ear to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah.

Your princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loves gifts, and follows after rewards: they do not judge the fatherless, neither does the cause of the widow come to them.

Now therefore do not be mockers, so that your bonds are not made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a destruction, even determined upon the whole earth.

For the terrible one is brought to nothing, and the scorner is consumed, and all that look for iniquity are cut off:

As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, those who lead you cause you to err, and destroy the way of your paths.

Listen to me, you proud hearted, that are far from righteousness:

In my ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.

Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the LORD has spoken.

And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and threw it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.

Therefore, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD:

In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.

You who rejoice in nothingness, who say, Have we not taken to ourselves dominion by our own strength?

Behold, you despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I shall work a work in your days, a work which you shall by no means believe, though a man declares it to you.
