Lo, let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein.

My harp also has changed into mourning, and my pipe into the voice of those who weep.

We hung our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.

And gladness is taken away, and joy out of the fruitful field; and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall there be shouting: the treaders shall tread out no wine in their presses; I have made their vintage shouting to cease.

And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands.

Therefore the land of darkenss has enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoices, shall descend into it.

For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in your days, the voice of cheerfulness, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.

Moreover I will take from them the voice of cheerfulness, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle.

Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of cheerfulness, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.

The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their music.

And I will cause the noise of your songs to cease; and the sound of your harps shall no more be heard.

You have been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of your tabrets and of your pipes was prepared in you in the day that you were created.

I will also cause all her gladness to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.

Therefore now shall they go captive with the first who go captive, and the banquet of those who stretched themselves out shall be removed.

And the sound of harps, and musicians, and of flutes, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in you; and no craftsman, of whatever craft he be, shall be found any more in you; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in you;
