The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it comes from the desert, from a terrible land.

Out of the south comes the whirlwind: and cold out of the north.

The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw.

Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall be moved out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cling to the house of Jacob.

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

I will also make it a possession for the marsh bird, and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the broom of destruction, says the LORD of hosts.

The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a heap of ruins.

Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground: there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for you shall no longer be called tender and delicate.

Whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent, their horses’ hoofs shall be accounted as flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind:

Thus says the LORD; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against those who dwell in the midst of those who rise up against me, a destroying wind;

The sea has come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.

We are brought into confusion, because we have heard reproach: shame has covered our faces: for strangers have come into the sanctuaries of the LORD’S house.

And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire returning in upon itself, and a brightness was around it, and out of the midst thereof as the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

He and his people with him, the terrible of the nations, shall be brought to destroy the land: and they shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with the slain.

And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken beside all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth have gone down from his shadow, and have left him.

You shall ascend and come like a storm, you shall be like a cloud to cover the land, you, and all your bands, and many people with you.

And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

And the LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth like the lightning: and the Lord GOD shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.
