And the afflicted people you will save: but your eyes are upon the proud, that you may bring them down.

Why, seeing that times are not hidden from the Almighty, do those who know him not see his days come?

​LORD, my heart is not puffed up, nor my eyes lofty: neither do I occupy myself with great matters, or in things too high for me.

For you will light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

The Lord shall laugh at him: for he sees that his day is coming.

Lift up yourself, you judge of the earth: return a recompense to the proud.

Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

Therefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord has performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.

Behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall cut off the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature shall be cut down, and the haughty shall be humbled.

And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

Howl; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.

Behold, the day of the LORD comes, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

Yet you shall be brought down to the land of darkness, to the sides of the pit.

The LORD of hosts has purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, and to bring into contempt all the honorable of the earth.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.

The earth mourns and fades away, the world wears out and fades away, the haughty people of the earth become feeble.

That brings the princes to nothing; he makes the judges of the earth as vanity.

I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their vegetation; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.

And the lowly man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:

To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

My heritage is to me like a speckled bird, the birds round about are against her; come ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, come to devour.

Thus says the LORD, In this manner will I spoil the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.

Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge himself on his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be filled and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of hosts has a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.

Behold, I am against you, O you most proud, says the Lord GOD of hosts: for your day has come, the time that I will visit you.

You have not gone up into the gaps, neither built up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD.

Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all of whose works are truth, and his ways justice: and those who walk in pride he is able to bring low.

Woe to you who desire the day of the LORD! to what purpose is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light,

Therefore thus says the LORD; Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which you shall not remove your necks; neither shall you go haughtily: for this time is evil.

And I will cut off the cities of your land, and throw down all your strongholds:

A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fortified cities, and against the high towers.

In that day shall you not be ashamed of all your doings, in which you have transgressed against me: for then I will take away out of the midst of you those who rejoice in your pride, and you shall no more be haughty because of my holy mountain.

For, behold, the day is coming that shall burn like an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that comes shall burn them up, says the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

And whoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he who shall humble himself shall be exalted.

For whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and he who humbles himself shall be exalted.

To deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.

But he gives more grace. Therefore he says, God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
