Rejoice not, all Philistia, because the rod of him that struck you is broken: for out of the serpent’s root shall come forth an adder, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.

He struck the Philistines, even to Gaza, and the territory thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city.

And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities throughout Ashdod, and among the Philistines.

The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the low country, and of the south of Judah, and had taken Beth-shemesh, and Ajalon, and Gederoth, and Shocho with the villages thereof, and Timnah with the villages thereof, Gimzo also and the villages thereof: and they dwelt there.

Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles:

But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall plunder those of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.

As you rejoiced at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do to you: you shall be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the LORD.

Do not rejoice, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for you have gone a whoring from your God, you have loved a reward upon every grain floor.

Yea, and what have you to do with me, O Tyre, and Sidon, and all the land of Philistia? will you repay to me a recompense? and if you recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompense upon your own head;

Thus says the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they took away captive all the captives, to deliver them up to Edom:

And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him who holds the scepter from Ashkelon, and I will turn my hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, says the Lord GOD.

But you should not have looked on the day of your brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither should you have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither should you have spoken proudly in the day of distress.

Rejoice not against me, O my enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light to me.

For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.

Woe to the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy you, that there shall be no inhabitant.

In that day shall you not be ashamed of all your doings, in which you have transgressed against me: for then I will take away out of the midst of you those who rejoice in your pride, and you shall no more be haughty because of my holy mountain.

Ashkelon shall see it, and fear; Gaza also shall see it, and be very sorrowful, and Ekron; for her expectation shall be ashamed; and the king shall perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.

And the LORD said to Moses, Make a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looks upon it, shall live.
