Out of that land went forth Asshur, and built Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah,

Have I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

Have you not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient times that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that you should be the one to lay waste fortified cities into heaps of ruins.

For the power of the wicked shall not remain upon the portion of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands to iniquity.

From men which are your hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly you fill with your hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their wealth to their babes.

Shall the axe boast itself against him that cuts with it? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that moves it? as if the rod should shake itself against those who lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood.

For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and my anger in their destruction.

They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

The LORD of hosts has sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:

That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart off from them, and his burden depart off from their shoulders.

Behold the land of the Chaldeans; this people was not, till the Assyrian founded it for those who dwell in the wilderness: they set up the towers thereof, they raised up the palaces thereof; and he brought it to ruin.

Come, my people, enter into your chambers, and shut your doors behind you: hide yourself as if for a little moment, until the indignation be past.

Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be mourning and sorrow: and it shall be to me as Ariel.

Behold, the name of the LORD comes from afar, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:

And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall show the downward stroke of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.

That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:

For the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he has completely destroyed them, he has delivered them to the slaughter.

And when you see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies.

The LORD shall bring upon you, and upon your people, and upon your father’s house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.

In the same day shall the Lord shave with a razor that is hired, namely, by them beyond the river, by the king of Assyria, the head, and the hair of the feet: and it shall also consume the beard.

For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.

Now therefore, behold, the Lord brings up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:

Therefore have I poured out my indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, says the Lord GOD.

Behold the day, behold, it has come: the morning has gone forth; the rod has blossomed, pride has budded.

And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that which is determined shall be done.

Are you not from everlasting, O LORD my God, my Holy One? we shall not die. O LORD, you have ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, you have established them for correction.

And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like a wilderness.

And ships shall come from the coast of Chittim, and shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber, and he also shall perish for ever.
