And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Bethel, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made.
For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in your days, the voice of cheerfulness, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.
Moreover I will take from them the voice of cheerfulness, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle.
Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of cheerfulness, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.
For the children of Israel shall remain many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim:
And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, says the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall throw them out in silence.
Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?
