And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau’s heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them.

Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.

And the LORD rejected all the people of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of plunderers, until he had cast them out of his sight.

Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel taken away out of their own land to Assyria until this day.

Therefore I will yet plead with you, says the LORD, and with your children’s children will I plead.

Now has the end come upon you, and I will send my anger upon you, and will judge you according to your ways, and will recompense upon you all your abominations.

Now will I shortly pour out my fury upon you, and accomplish my anger upon you: and I will judge you according to your ways, and will recompense you for all your abominations.

Hear the word of the LORD, you children of Israel: for the LORD has a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them for their doings.

Thus says the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after which their fathers have walked:

Hear, O mountains, the LORD’S controversy, and you strong foundations of the earth: for the LORD has a controversy with his people, and he will plead with Israel.

(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to selection might stand, not because of works, but because of him that calls;)
