Israel is an empty vine, he brings forth fruit for himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he has increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made beautiful images.
For according to the number of your cities were your gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have you set up altars to that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal.
For the LORD of hosts, who planted you, has pronounced evil against you, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal.

You shall make for yourself no idols nor sculptured image, neither raise up a standing image, neither shall you set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down to it: for I am the LORD your God.
For the LORD has turned away the excellence of Jacob, like the excellence of Israel: for the emptiers have emptied them out, and hurt their vine branches.
Therefore from this time on we know no one according to the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet from now on we know him in this way no more.
