Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of Adam’s transgression, who is the representative of him who was to come.

Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.

And every priest stands daily ministering and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should arise after the order of Melchisedek, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

For if he were on earth, he would not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:

For Christ has not entered into the sanctuary made with hands, which is a representation of the true one; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

This represents baptism which also now saves us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the response of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
