And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD has cursed.
For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good comes; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
So that the LORD could no longer bear it, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which you have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.
And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it shall devour every green tree in you, and every dry tree: the burning flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned in it.
For, behold, the day is coming that shall burn like an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that comes shall burn them up, says the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
And now also the axe is laid to the root of the trees: therefore every tree which does not bring forth good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire.
For you know that afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears.
