And in the time of his distress he trespassed yet more against the LORD: this is that king Ahaz.

But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they do not cry out to God when he binds them.

For you shall eat the labor of your hands: happy shall you be, and it shall be well with you.

He gave also their increase to the caterpiller, and their labor to the locust.

Behold, the Lord has one who is mighty and strong, who as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall throw them down to the earth with his hand.

Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and put to shame: they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as grain blighted before it is grown up.

Therefore he has poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it has set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he did not take it to heart.

The LORD has sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give your grain to be food for your enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink your wine, for which you have labored:

For the people do not turn to him that strikes them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.

For shame has devoured the labor of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.

O LORD, are not your eyes upon the truth? you have struck them, but they have not grieved; you have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and lack of bread in all your places: yet have you not returned to me, says the LORD.

And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the grain, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground brings forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labor of the hands.

You have sown much, and bring in little; you eat, but you do not have enough; you drink, but you are not filled with drink; you clothe yourselves, but there is none warm; and he who earns wages earns wages to put it into a bag with holes.

You looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew upon it. Why? says the LORD of hosts. Because of my house that is in ruins, and you run every man to his own house.

Since those days, when one came to a heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty vessels out of the winepress, there were but twenty.

And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruit of your ground; neither shall your vine drop her fruit before the time in the field, says the LORD of hosts.

The LORD shall strike you with a wasting disease, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blight, and with mildew; and they shall pursue you until you perish.

And I gave her time to repent of her fornication; and she did not repent.
