Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him who increases that which is not his! how long? and to him who loads himself with thick clay!

LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?

He that oppresses the poor to increase his riches, and he that gives to the rich, shall surely come to want.

For he says, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I have understanding: and I have removed the boundaries of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man:

He feeds on ashes: a deceived heart has turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

Woe to those who join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place left, that they may dwell alone in the midst of the earth!

Why do you spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which does not satisfy? listen diligently to me, and eat that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

As the partridge sits on eggs, and does not hatch them; so he that gets riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.

And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The LORD make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;

Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate: every one who goes by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.

The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of the land of darkness with those who help him: they have gone down, they lie uncircumcised, slain by the sword.

In that day shall one take up a parable against you, and lament with a sorrowful lamentation, and say, We are completely laid waste: he has changed the portion of my people: how he has removed it from me! turning away he has divided our fields.

They take up all of them with the hook, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their dragnet: therefore they rejoice and are glad.

Woe to him who builds a town with blood, and establishes a city by iniquity!

Behold, is it not from the LORD of hosts that the people shall labor in the consuming fire, and the people shall weary themselves for utter vanity?

And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; listen to me, you son of Zippor:

And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab has brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse for me Jacob, and come, defy Israel.

But God said to him, You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: then whose shall those things be, which you have provided?

But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch even to prayer.
