And Joseph said to his brothers, I am Joseph; does my father yet live? And his brothers could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence.

Come now therefore, and let us kill him, and throw him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast has devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.

And they said one to another, We are truly guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he pleaded with us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.

And Reuben answered them, saying, Did I not speak to you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and you would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.

And he asked them of their welfare, and said, Is your father well, the old man of whom you spoke? Is he yet alive?

Therefore am I troubled at his presence: when I consider, I am afraid of him.

But now it has come upon you, and you faint; it touches you, and you are troubled.

And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplication: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and said to them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.

When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brothers; and Joseph’s kindred were made known to Pharaoh.

And he said, Who are you, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom you persecute: it is hard for you to kick against the goads.

Behold, he is coming with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and those also who pierced him: and all the tribes of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
