And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, took each man his sword, and came on the city boldly, and slew all the males.

And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spoke to them by an interpreter.

And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may send away your other brother, and Benjamin. If I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.

And he said, Peace be to you, fear not: your God, and the God of your father, has given you treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he brought Simeon out to them.

And Joseph made haste; for his heart did yearn for his brother: and he sought somewhere to weep; and he entered into his chamber, and wept there.

Then Joseph could not restrain himself before all those who stood by him; and he cried out, Cause every man to go out from me. And there stood no man with him, while Joseph made himself known to his brothers.

And he wept aloud: and the Egyptians and the house of Pharaoh heard.

In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bore them, and carried them all the days of old.

And when he had come near, he saw the city, and wept over it,

Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our weaknesses; but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
