Now when Jacob saw that there was grain in Egypt, Jacob said to his sons, Why do you look one upon another?

And the seven years of famine began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the famine was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.

And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph to buy grain; because the famine was so severe in all lands.

And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is grain in Egypt: go down there, and buy for us from there; that we may live, and not die.

And when he saw that, he arose, and fled for his life, and came to Beer-sheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.

Arise; for this matter belongs to you: we also will be with you: be of good courage, and do it.

And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.

And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in an evil place, after it was said, You shall not diminish anything from your bricks of your daily task.

Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fortified cities, and let us be silent there: for the LORD our God has put us to silence, and given us bitter water to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.

And the LORD said to Joshua, Get up; why do you lie thus upon your face?
