Come now therefore, and let us kill him, and throw him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast has devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.
And they sent the coat of many colors, and they brought it to their father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it is your son’s coat or not.
And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befalls him on the way in which you go, then shall you bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.
And we said to my lord, We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loves him.
And when he was gone, a lion met him on the way, and slew him: and his carcass was dropped in the way, and the donkey stood by it, the lion also stood by the carcass.
And he turned back, and looked at them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tore forty two children of them.
