And the LORD said to Moses, Go to the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes,

And Moses went down from the mount to the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.

And in all things that I have said to you be careful: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of your mouth.

Watch your foot when you go to the house of God, and be more ready to hear than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they do not consider that they do evil.

Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil;

Depart, depart, go ye out from there, touch no unclean thing; go out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.

I have seen your adulteries, and your neighings, the lewdness of your whoredom, and your abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe to you, O Jerusalem! will you not be made clean? when shall it finally be?

Shall a man make gods for himself, and they are no gods?

How shall I pardon you for this? your children have forsaken me, and sworn by those who are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and crowded into the harlots’ houses.

Put away from you all your transgressions, by which you have transgressed; and make yourself a new heart and a new spirit: for why will you die, O house of Israel?

Then said I to them, Put away every man the abominations of his eyes, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

And whoever touches his bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening.

But if he does not wash them, nor bathe his flesh; then he shall bear his iniquity.

And you shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and you shall be clean, and afterward you shall come into the camp.

Moreover you see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people, saying that they are no gods, which are made with hands:

Neither should you be idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Then, however, when you did not know God, you did service to those who by nature are no gods.

And a curse, if you will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which you have not known.

They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations they provoked him to anger.

You shall have no other gods before me.

You shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you;

The sculptured images of their gods shall you burn with fire: you shall not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto you, lest you be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD your God.

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded.

That you do not come among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them:

Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve the LORD.

And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

And Joshua said to all the people, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.

If you forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after he has done you good.

Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and turn your heart to the LORD God of Israel.

And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

And she said, Behold, your sister in law is gone back to her people, and to her gods: return after your sister in law.

And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice unto the LORD: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.

And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, If you do return to the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.
