Let my lord, I pray you, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that go before me and the children be able to endure, until I come to my lord to Seir.
And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall you speak to my lord Esau; Your servant Jacob says thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now:
And he said to him, My lord knows that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them for one day, all the flock will die.
And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom you would not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and did not destroy them;
He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the LORD spoke to me: and we circled around mount Seir many days.
LORD, when you went out of Seir, when you marched out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped, the clouds also dropped down water.
