And Isaac sent away Jacob: and he went to Padan-aram to Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob’s and Esau’s mother.

And Bethuel begot Rebekah: these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham’s brother.

And they did eat and drink, he and the men that were with him, and stayed all night; and they rose up in the morning, and he said, Send me away to my master.

And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah as wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan-aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian.

And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said to him, Be careful that you do not speak to Jacob either good or bad.

And Jacob came to Isaac his father to Mamre, to the city of Arbah, which is Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac sojourned.

Syria was your merchant because of the multitude of the wares of your making: they traded in your fairs with emeralds, purple, and embroidered work, and fine linen, and coral, and agate.

And Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheep.

And you shall speak and say before the LORD your God, A Syrian ready to perish was my father, and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there with a few, and became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous:
