And he departed from there to a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he built an altar to the LORD, and called on the name of the LORD.
And he came upon a certain place, and stayed there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.
I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar, and where you vowed a vow to me: now arise, leave this land, and return to the land of your kindred.
And God said to Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.
And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon.
And Elijah said to Elisha, Remain here, I pray you; for the LORD has sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said to him, As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. So they went down to Bethel.
And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Bethel with the towns thereof, and Jeshanah with the towns thereof, and Ephrain with the towns thereof.
And the border went over from there toward Luz, to the side of Luz, which is Bethel, southward; and the border descended to Ataroth-adar, near the hill that lies on the south side of the lower Beth-horon.
Then all the children of Israel, and all the people, went up, and came to the house of God, and wept, and sat there before the LORD, and fasted that day until evening, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.
Then shall you go on forward from there, and you shall come to the plain of Tabor, and there shall meet you three men going up to God to Bethel, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine:
