Ezra 9:9

For we were slaves; yet our God has not forsaken us in our slavery, but has extended mercy to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.

And some of the chief of the fathers, when they came to the house of the LORD which is at Jerusalem, offered freely for the house of God to set it up in its place:

This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a learned scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him.

And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.

And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken your commandments,

Then said I to them, You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no longer a reproach.

And refused to obey, neither were mindful of your wonders that you did among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their slavery: but you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and did not forsake them.

Let there be none to extend mercy to him: neither let there be any to favor his fatherless children.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you will revive me: you shall stretch out your hand against the anger of my enemies, and your right hand shall save me.

And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give you rest from your sorrow, and from your fear, and from the hard service with which you were made to serve,

And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones from it, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.

And now consider; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:

And they shall build the old waste places, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the desolate cities, the desolations of many generations.

Therefore say, Thus says the Lord GOD; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come.

Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem until the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and sixty two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troubled times.

You looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew upon it. Why? says the LORD of hosts. Because of my house that is in ruins, and you run every man to his own house.

For I, says the LORD, will be to her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.
