Ezra 8:22

For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy along the way: because we had spoken to the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all those for good who seek him; but his power and his anger is against all those who forsake him.

And you, Solomon my son, be sure you know the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts: if you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off for ever.

And he went out to meet Asa, and said to him, Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while you are with him; and if you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein you have done foolishly: therefore from this time on you shall have wars.

And has extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counselors, and before all the king’s mighty princes. And I was strengthened as the hand of the LORD my God was upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.

This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a learned scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him.

For on the first day of the first month he began to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.

Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go to Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of those that lay in wait by the way.

Then I came to the governors beyond the river, and gave them the king’s letters. Now the king had sent captains of the army and horsemen with me.

They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.

The LORD redeems the soul of his servants: and none of those who trust in him shall be desolate.

Who knows the power of your anger? even according to your fear, so is your wrath.

The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul that seeks him.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to his purpose.

But I have made use of none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done to me: for it would be better for me to die, than that anyone should make my boasting of no effect.

For if I have boasted anything to him of you, I am not ashamed; but as we spoke all things to you in truth, even so our boasting, which I made before Titus, is found to be truth.

Now the just shall live by faith: but if anyone draws back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

Thus says the whole congregation of the LORD, What trespass is this that you have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the LORD, in that you have built you an altar, that you might rebel this day against the LORD?

When you have transgressed the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and you shall perish quickly off of the good land which he has given to you.

For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.
