Then his master shall bring him to the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or to the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl; and he shall serve him for ever.
And they spoke to him, saying, If you will be a servant to this people this day, and will serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants for ever.
For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
If men argue, and hurt a woman with child, so that her baby departs from her, and yet no injury follows: he shall surely be punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.

And I instructed your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your people, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.
Then you shall take an awl, and thrust it through his ear to the door, and he shall be your servant for ever. And also to your maidservant you shall do likewise.
Judges and officers shall you appoint for yourselves in all your gates, which the LORD your God gives you, throughout your tribes: and they shall judge the people with just judgment.
But Hannah did not go up; for she said to her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and there remain for ever.
