Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our kindred, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought into bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.

You have seen it; for you behold mischief and spite, to repay it with your hand: the poor commits himself to you; you are the helper of the fatherless.

To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.

When he makes inquiry for blood, he remembers them: he forgets not the cry of the humble.

And if a man strikes his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he dies under his hand; he shall surely be punished.

Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,

Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

And if he strikes out his manservant’s tooth, or his maidservant’s tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth’s sake.

And, you masters, do the same things to them, avoiding threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

You shall not pervert judgment; you shall not favor any person, neither take a bribe: for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise, and perverts the words of the righteous.

Masters, give to your servants that which is just and fair; knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.
