Bath-sheba therefore went to king Solomon, to speak to him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself to her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a seat to be set for the king’s mother; and she sat on his right hand.
And Elisha saw it, and he cried out, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and tore them in two pieces.
And Jeremiah said to the house of the Rechabites, Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Because you have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according to all that he has commanded you:
Neither shall you build houses, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyards, nor have any: but all your days you shall dwell in tents; that you may live many days in the land where you are strangers.
In you have they lightly regarded father and mother: in the midst of you have they dealt by oppression with the stranger: in you have they troubled the fatherless and the widow.
A son honors his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is my honor? and if I be a master, where is my fear? says the LORD of hosts to you, O priests, who despise my name. And you say, How have we despised your name?
Therefore shall you keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that you may be strong, and go in and possess the land, to which you go to possess it;
And that you may prolong your days in the land, which the LORD swore to your fathers to give to them and to their descendents, a land that flows with milk and honey.

For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing you shall prolong your days in the land, to which you go over Jordan to possess it.

You shall keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command you this day, that it may go well with you, and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days upon the earth, which the LORD your God gives you, for ever.
Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you; that your days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with you, in the land which the LORD your God gives you.
You shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God has commanded you, that you may live, and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.
That you might fear the LORD your God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, you, and your son, and your son’s son, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged.
