And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.

He struck down also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.

And the children of Israel went away, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.

And it came to pass, when Pharaoh refused to let us go, that the LORD killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of animals: therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all that opens the womb, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.

And I say to you, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if you refuse to let him go, behold, I will kill your son, even your firstborn.

And the LORD did that thing on the morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died: but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one.

And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.

Behold, all those who were incensed against you shall be ashamed and perplexed: they shall be as nothing; and those who strive with you shall perish.

The captive exile hastens that he may be loosed, and that he should not die in the pit, nor that his bread should fail.

So they drew up Jeremiah with cords, and took him up out of the dungeon: and Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.

Then they took Jeremiah, and put him into the dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that was in the court of the prison: and they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire: so Jeremiah sank in the mire.

Before him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth at his feet.

As for you also, by the blood of your covenant I have sent forth your prisoners out of the pit in which is no water.

Because all the firstborn are mine; for on the day that I struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast: mine shall they be: I am the LORD.

For the Egyptians buried all their firstborn, which the LORD had stricken among them: upon their gods also the LORD executed judgments.

For all the firstborn of the children of Israel are mine, both man and beast: on the day that I struck down every firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for myself.

Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, so that he who destroyed the firstborn would not touch them.

To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, who are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
