And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

How much more, if perhaps the people had eaten freely today of the spoil of their enemies which they found? for had there not been now a much greater slaughter among the Philistines?
