And saying, We have piped to you, and you have not danced; we have mourned to you, and you have not lamented.

And Jesus said to them, Can the companions of the bridegroom mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

And her neighbors and her cousins heard how the Lord had shown great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.

Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world works death.

Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
