There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labor. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.
I sought in my heart to give myself to wine, yet acquainting my heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life.
A man to whom God has given riches, wealth, and honor, so that he lacks nothing for his soul of all that he desires, yet God does not give him power to eat thereof, but a stranger eats it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease.
Then I recommended cheerfulness, because a man has no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall remain with him of his labor the days of his life, which God gives him under the sun.
And there you shall eat before the LORD your God, and you shall rejoice in all that you put your hand unto, you and your households, in which the LORD your God has blessed you.
And you shall rejoice in every good thing which the LORD your God has given to you and to your house, you, and the Levite, and the stranger that is among you.
