Who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that he might humble you, and that he might prove you, to do you good at your latter end;
However in the business of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to test him, that he might know all that was in his heart.
So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand female donkeys.
And he cried out to the LORD; and the LORD showed him a tree, which when he had thrown it into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,
And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, This is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat.
Then said the LORD to Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain amount every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or not.
And some of them of understanding shall fall, to refine them, and to purify, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.
You shall not listen to the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proves you, to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
And you shall remember all the way which the LORD your God led you these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you, and to prove you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or not.
And he humbled you, and permitted you to hunger, and fed you with manna, which you did not know, neither did your fathers know; that he might make you know that man does not live by bread only, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD does man live.
Blessed is the man who endures temptation: for when he has been tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those who love him.
That the testing of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it is tried with fire, may result in praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
