For you have said in your heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Therefore now hear this, you who are given to pleasures, who dwell without care, who say in your heart, I am, and none other besides me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:
Then shall you say in your heart, Who has begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and wandering to and fro? and who has brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where were they?
And if you say in your heart, Why do these things come upon me? For the greatness of your iniquity are your skirts uncovered, and your heels made bare.
And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched to the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eats up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
And the LORD said to Moses, Fear him not: for I have delivered him into your hand, and all his people, and his land; and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.
Where shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people are greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.
Beware that there be not a thought in your wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and your eye be evil against your poor brother, and you give him nothing; and he cries unto the LORD against you, and it be sin unto you.
