Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask your father, and he will make it known to you; your elders, and they will tell you.

He has said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.

I remembered your judgments of old, O LORD; and have comforted myself.

​We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work you did in their days, in the times of old.

How you drove out the heathen with your hand, and planted them; how you afflicted the people, and cast them out.

Is his mercy completely gone for ever? does his promise fail for evermore?

For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:

And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What do you mean by this service?

And it shall be when your son asks you in time to come, saying, What is this? that you shall say to him, By strength of hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none other; I am God, and there is none like me,

Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?

For ask now of the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven to the other, whether there has been any such thing as this great thing is, or has been heard like it?

And you shall remember all the way which the LORD your God led you these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you, and to prove you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or not.

And Gideon said to him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where are all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD has forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.
