That which is gone out of your lips you shall keep and perform; even a freewill offering, according as you have vowed unto the LORD your God, which you have promised with your mouth.

I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people,

Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay your vows to the most High:

It is a snare to the man who devours that which is holy, and afterwards vows to make inquiry.

But we will certainly do whatever thing goes forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then we had plenty of food, and were well, and saw no evil.

Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, When a man shall make a special vow, the persons shall be for the LORD by your estimation.

If a man vows a vow unto the LORD, or swears an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.

Again, you have heard that it has been said by men of old, You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord your oaths:

And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.

But do not yield to them: for there lie in wait for him more than forty men of them, who have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from you.

But if you shall forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in you.

When you come into your neighbor’s vineyard, then you may eat your fill of grapes at your own pleasure; but you shall not put any in your vessel.

And the children of Israel did not strike them, because the princes of the congregation had sworn to them by the LORD God of Israel. And all the congregation murmured against the princes.

And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he tore his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! you have brought me very low, and you are one of those who trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the LORD, and I cannot go back.

And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your handmaid, and remember me, and not forget your handmaid, but will give to your handmaid a man child, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had strictly directed the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eats any food until evening, that I may be avenged on my enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.
