And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor that lends anything to his neighbor shall release it; he shall not require it of his neighbor, or of his brother; because it is called the LORD’S release.

And if the people of the land bring merchandise or any food on the sabbath day to sell, that we would not buy it from them on the sabbath, or on the holy day: and that we would forsake the crops of the seventh year, and the demanding of every debt.

Why have we fasted, they say, and you do not see it? why have we afflicted our soul, and you take no knowledge of it? Behold, in the day of your fast you indulge your desires, and oppress all your laborers.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And when they had nothing to pay, he freely forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?

At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release.

Of a foreigner you may require it again: but that which is yours with your brother your hand shall release;

And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,

For he shall have judgment without mercy that has shown no mercy; and mercy rejoices against judgment.
