And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king’s business; and I was astonished at the vision, but did not understand it.

And, behold, one having the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spoke, and said to him who stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows have come upon me, and I have retained no strength.

Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my attractiveness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.

Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was astonished for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spoke, and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation thereof, trouble you. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to those who hate you, and the interpretation thereof to your enemies.

I have even heard of you, that the spirit of the gods is in you, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you.

Thus far is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my thoughts much troubled me, and my appearance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.

So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said to me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.

And I saw in a vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I was at Shushan in the palace, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in a vision, and I was by the river of Ulai.

And I saw him come close to the ram, and he was moved with anger against him, and struck the ram, and broke his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he threw him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.

When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he comes up to the people, he will invade them with his troops.

And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuel feared to tell Eli the vision.
